PMVT HOUSING SERVICE TRAIL OVERVIEW
Peter McVerry Trust Housing Service TRAIL is a six-month placement
open to any individual in custody. PMVT Housing Service TRAIL staff
works with each individual over a three-phase residency, developing
independent living skills and supporting the participant to progress
to independent living. This is via the Housing Assistance Payment
(HAP)/Private Rented Accommodation. This aims to reduce recidivism
through integration into society. Integration is central to the ethos
of the PMVT?Housing Service TRAIL.
The service is a drug and alcohol-free environment and provides a
comprehensive independent living programme through individually
tailored support plans for each individual.
ROLE PURPOSE
* The Role is designed to support individuals exiting custody to
discuss and work through highly complex, sensitive and personal
information related to their presentation.
* To provide therapeutic support to individuals both pre and post
release from custody.
* The role includes ensuring the therapeutic support provides a
clear, evidence based, effective and consistent service for all
clients.
* The role will continuously develop methods and resources that
result in improved/effective wellbeing and behaviours for clients.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES WILL BE:
* To work effectively and collaboratively to ensure the successful
operation of therapeutic provision within the PMVT Housing Service
TRAIL programme.
* To be a part of a multi-disciplinary assessment team. To
facilitate individual assessments to aid the development of client
formulations and support plans.
* Maintain accurate and detailed case notes and client records.
* To attend team meetings and contribute to agendas and discussions.

* To provide person centred or integrative psychotherapy, employing
methods based upon evidence. To work in ways which are sensitive to
and appropriate for the needs of individuals.
* To participate in multiagency meetings as appropriate,
safeguarding case conferences and reviews, etc. providing professional
advice on individual support plans and assessing individual?s
suitability for the programme, as necessary.
* To have an understanding and desire to work with Individuals with
complex issues and backgrounds
* An understanding and ability to demonstrate the core values of
Restorative practice
* The Ability to identifying motivations, triggers, risk factors for
reoffending, choices for alternative lifestyles.
* To identifying ways of overcoming blocks to a stable and
crime-free readjustment to society e.g., a drug or alcohol addiction.
* The Ability to prioritise own workload and ensure effective time
management strategies are embedded in own practice and that of others.
* To be professional and legally responsible and accountable for all
aspects of own work including the management of service users in your
care.
* To undertake self-directed/lone working in a variety of locations.
* To read relevant current literature and stay up-to-date with
developments regarding restorative practices.
* To have suitable external supervision arrangements with a
qualified approved supervisor.
REQUIREMENTS
* A recognised qualification at minimum level 8 QQI in Counselling or
Psychotherapy; or a level 9 QQI in Counselling or Clinical Psychology.
* Membership of a recognised professional body (i.e. PSI, APCP,
IACP, NAPCP, IAHIP, ICP etc.).
* Experience working with a variety of clients reflecting a wide
range of clinical presentations.
* Proficient computer skills.
* Full time availability during daytime hours (ie Mon-Fri, 9am to
5pm).
